One of our most active students on San Luis Obispo High School campus, junior Minori Jaggia, has been selected for a very special summer program with The New York Times. It is a great opportunity to learn from the best of journalists. Expressions set out to interview Jaggia for more details.
Expressions: Tell us about your New York Times summer program.
Junior Minori Jaggia: It is basically a writing program, where we are taught by the editors of The New York Times. We go around New York and live in the dorms of NYU and Fordham University for two weeks.
Expressions: When will you be attending?
Jaggia: It is June 11 to June 24 this summer.
Expressions: How were you chosen for this opportunity?
Jaggia: There was an online application that consisted of many short answer questions as well as a letter of recommendation.
Expressions: What are you most excited about?
Jaggia: I’m really excited about getting an inside scoop of The New York Times since it’s such a prestigious magazine. I’m looking forward to working with the editors and experiencing the city life.
Expressions: Do you have any advice to other students looking for similar opportunities?
Jaggia: I would recommend to just search online. There’s a lot available to you, and if you apply, there’s a good chance you could get in.
