Many people have heard about the controversies surrounding Planned Parenthood and what it does. Those with more conservative views typically dislike Planned Parenthood because of their opinions on abortion. However, Planned Parenthood offers much more than just abortions.
Despite its well known controversial stereotype, Planned Parenthood offers a variety of health education and benefits. They provide help and information about STIs, pregnancy, sexuality and gender orientation, general health care, cancer, and relationships.
“I know they offer pap smears, mammograms, STD testing, affordable birth control and abortion services,” said senior Rachel Lovato.
Most people who understand the services of Planned Parenthood and their benefits see it as a good thing.
“It’s good because it teaches about diseases and how to avoid them and the risks of sex,” said junior Carolyn Chiu.
“I think it is an incredible organization because it provides safe medical services as well as financial help to those who can’t afford such services,” said junior Maya Hampsey. Being able to support this organization is amazing, not just for women, but for everyone.
If someone needs to contact Planned Parenthood they can check out their official website, Facebook page, or visit their health center right here in San Luis Obispo on 743 Pismo Street.
