Senior Eden Zhang has been an exchange student for almost four years, three of which he spent in the United States. And with the financial support of his parents back in China, Zhang also spent a few months in Japan and in the U.K.
“I don’t like to be in the same environment for too long. I like change,” said Zhang, explaining why he has been an exchange student for so long.
Since he was fourteen, Zhang has only been back to visit his family in China twice. Homesickness hasn’t been a problem for him; he explains that keeping busy and having a lot of fun with new friends takes his mind off of it.
Zhang is not planning on returning to China permanently anytime soon. Who knows where he’ll end up next? Norway, Japan, a new state in America, or somewhere in Europe are just a few of the options he is considering.
