For all seniors taking Advanced Placement Government, a minimum of 7 hours of volunteering for a political campaign is required. They can do this volunteering with either a local candidate or helping on a presidential campaign. Government teacher Jim Johnson assigns this to get students politically active and aware of elections.
“I think it made me see all of the effort that goes into a political campaign,” said senior Kelly Doherty.
Some of the typical tasks that students carry out are phone banking, walking precincts, and getting the word out in any other way.
Election day is June 7, make sure you get out and vote.
