Students at San Luis Obispo High School are used to seeing last minute changes in the school lunch menu, especially with issues in the supply chain causing the occasional food shortage. To better prepare students for these changes, the SLOHS food service is coming out on an app called Mealviewer. Up until now, the SLOHS menu could only be found on the online version of Mealviewer, but now it is more updated and accessible with the app.
Mealviewer is run by Heartland School Solutions, a software company based in Rochester, New York. To view changes to the school menu, students need to create an account with mealviewer and enter their school’s name, which will be saved by mealviewer as that student’s school.
“The website is up to date with all the current changes. Due to food shortages we have been having to substitute some of the meals, and this website will reflect those changes,” said Central Kitchen Supervisor Sarah Rich.
Not only does Mealviewer tell students what’s on the menu, students can also click on menu items and look at the nutrition facts.
Now that students can accurately tell what will be on the school menu, they can decide whether they want to get the school lunch, pack food, or go off campus for a meal. Mealviewer can be found on the web, or in the app store under the name Mealviewer To-Go.
