San Luis Obispo High School has a vibrant community full of clubs and activities, but there’s one club that is underappreciated and deserves some more love. Auto Cub is a rapidly growing organization on campus, so Expressions went out to interview the club president and some of the officers to learn more.
Expressions: How often does Auto Cub meet and what time do you meet at?
Auto Club President and sophomore Kennedy Hale: We’re meeting every Wednesday at lunch, and we’re going to try and see if we can meet every other Monday before school starts but that’s still up in the air right now.
Expressions: What kind of stuff do you guys do in Auto Cub? Are there any projects you’re currently working on?
Hale: Right now we have a 1999 Ford Mustang that we’re all working on fixing up so that we can re-sell it. We also want to start hosting car meetups and maybe some cruise nights. Also, if anyone is interested in a fixed up ‘99 Mustang, definitely contact me.
Expressions: What does Auto Club plan to do with the revenue you make from selling the car you’re fixing up and any other money you might make this year?
Hale: All of the money goes back into the club and for future funding or if we ever want to go to any races or field trips or stuff like that.
Expressions: Do you have to be in an auto class to be in the club?
Hale: No, not at all. No experience is necessary. You can just come out and learn some new things.
This is going to be Auto Club’s best year yet, so make sure you stop by the auto shop on Wednesdays at lunch if you’re interested in cars and want to make new friends and gain some valuable new skills!
