Local art supply store Art Central is showcasing San Luis Obispo High School student art in their “Back in the Studio” exhibit from March 4 to 28.
The exhibit encompasses various mediums and topics, but it has an underlying tone of post-COVID-19 expression.
Art Central is located on 1329 Monterey Street, open seven days a week.
“[The pandemic] definitely showed me a lot of the specifics about myself. I learned a lot about how my disorder behaves and what helps,” said junior Lily Rogers, whose artwork is on display at the show.
Not only did the pandemic change how students see the world, it also changed how they create art. Art class and collaboration are much more complicated through the internet.
“My biggest struggle was keeping myself motivated and trying to not be hard on myself without the support of being in-person,” said senior Bella Bonini, whose artwork is also at the show.
The two-year anniversary of the lockdown is rapidly approaching, but it seems just like yesterday through art.
Let’s hope that this art exhibit is the only thing that reminds us of such a perilous time.
