This basketball season, the San Luis Obispo High School girls JV Basketball team has been doing great this season by working together and being undefeated so far. The girls have been working together during practices to achieve their goals on staying unbeaten. One of the girls is freshman Fiona Stevens, and this is her first year of being on a SLOHS basketball team. Expressions interviewed her about her first season on the SLOHS team.
Expressions: How is the team doing this year at the Basketball Tournaments?
Freshman Fiona Stevens: The team is doing really good this season and we won all our games so far, which is a great accomplishment!
Expressions: How is your first year of being on the SLOHS girls Basketball team?
Stevens: It’s really fun, I’m glad that I get to play with my friends and my older sister Natalie who is a sophomore.
Expressions: How long have you been doing basketball and what made you want to do the sport?
Stevens: I’ve been playing since 3rd grade, so I have been playing for six years. My older sister Natalie made me do it with her at first, but I have to admit I didn’t want to do it at the time, but now I’m having a lot of fun and I’m glad I tried it out.
Expressions: Are you planning to try out for basketball for your future years at SLOHS?
Stevens: Yeah totally! This season has been such a blast already and I want to grow as a player and keep on representing the SLOHS team.
Expressions: How is the team dynamic?
Stevens: We are all very supportive of each other and in the beginning, we weren’t really close, but now we are a family. We can easily get frustrated at each other if things don’t go right, but we always figure out problems in the end which helps us grow as a team.
