Teachers are pretty much the most important people at San luis Obispo High School. They make sure that everyone is being educated on a daily basis. Every teacher’s methods differ, from fun and hands on learning to straightforward essays every day. When new teachers transfer here from a different school, they bring their unique method of teaching with them.
Expressions interviewed photography and media teacher Zach Roper about how different this school is compared to the previous ones he has taught at.
Expressions: Is teaching at this school better than your previous schools (Roper has previously taught at The American School of Milan and ACS Hillingdon International School)?
Photography and media teacher Zach Roper: I’m really excited to be teaching at San Luis Obispo High School. We have amazing equipment for TNN and all the staff I’ve met so far have been great.
Expressions: Has settling in here been hard at all?
Roper: No, not hard. It’s my twelfth year teaching, and starting at a new school is hard, but I think I have it covered.
Expressions: Are the students different here?
Roper: “No not really. Every other school I worked at, although the accents and culture differ, had students with the same goals to be excited about their classes, make cool things and have a great time among other things. At this age, everyone is just trying to find out what they love to do and are good at.”
Expressions: How are the teaching standards different here?
Roper: The nice thing is that they are mostly the same.
