For most of us, summer is the time to relax and catch up on our sleep, our travel, or our favorite Netflix series. For others, however, summer is seen as an opportunity to jump ahead in studies by taking summer courses.
“Taking a course over the summer was definitely worth it; it helped me get my credits and get a few more electives during the year,” said sophomore Lauren Erickson. “Summer school” sounds like a punishment, but it can be very beneficial to students striving to increase their course count or simply get ahead.
While sticking to studies can make for a very productive summer, it can also take away from the time students need to relax and prepare for the coming year. “I took (a course) online, so I felt like it was constantly hanging over my shoulder,” said sophomore Megan Fragasso.
“During the summer, I typically bike around with my friends or have a Star Wars marathon,” said sophomore Eddy Cristerna. Activities like these help students relieve stress after the hectic school year, and help get them mentally ready for the next.
So whether you are taking a summer course or not, remember to take advantage of the summer and go outside! Relax a little, and enjoy it.
