By Wednesday, January 17, the finals votes will be casted to decide if San Luis Obispo High School changes the format of their scheduling for the 2017-2018 school year. Currently, SLOHS is on a trimester schedule, but with the teacher vote, this could soon be changing to either a semester based schedule or a block schedule.
San Luis Coastal Teachers Association Union President and SLOHS English teacher Craig Stewart will be in charge of tallying the final voting count and making sure everyone is represented on how they feel about the upcoming schedule possibilities. Due to the teacher’s union agreement designating teachers themselves to choose their own working conditions, students and parents will have no input on the final decision.
Every year by contract, the teachers vote to either retain or change their schedule between trimesters and semesters, but what makes this year’s vote different is the third option, a modified semester block schedule.
So prepare yourselves, because your schedule could look very different next year depending on what happens in the upcoming week’s vote.
