Seniors that are going off to college still need jobs as they are transitioning into the workforce. Expressions interviewed three seniors to see what jobs work best and are most flexible for seniors at San Luis Obispo High School.
Expressions: what has been your favorite job?
2024 graduate Aiden Eagon: I’ve been working at Jamba Juice since my sophomore year.
2024 graduate Tony Garcia: My favorite job has definitely been gladiator paintball park. It’s a great atmosphere and I’m around great people every day working with and working for.
2024 graduate Sarah Elliott: I work at Tilly’s right now and it is definitely my favorite job so far because my other job was food service.
Expressions: Was it hard for you to find a job?
Eagon: It wasn’t too hard to find a job. You just gotta know the people who run it to get a job easier.
Garcia: It was a struggle for me to find a job that would work for me because when I started looking for jobs not many people were hiring especially for what I wanted.
Elliott: Not really, I was on indeed and I found it [there], so it worked pretty well.
Expressions: Do you think seniors should get a job before they go off to college or wait until after they go to college?
Eagon: You should get a job, preferably as soon as possible because it puts a lot of things into perspective for the real world.
Garcia: I think the best case is to get a job now and work leading up to college. It’s better to set yourself up for success that way.
Elliott: I’d say yes, mine works even better because when I go to college I can transfer with my job since there is a store in that area.
SLOHS students all have different experiences when it comes to jobs, but one thing is in common. Getting jobs is a good idea no matter the job or time frame of the job.
