Spotify Wrapped is finally back, after a long year of listening to music San Luis Obispo High School students can get an overview of their music taste, with their favorite songs, artists, and genres.
Spotify Wrapped introduces something new almost every year and 2023 is no exception with the introduction of ‘sound towns’ which matches you with the town or city your music taste is most similar to.
“I love Spotify Wrapped so much, it’s way more important than any of the holidays or events in Winter. I matched with Flagstaff, Arizona, I think it’s kinda weird though I know other people like my boyfriend got Flagstaff even though we have very different music tastes,” said senior Karl Karsh.
Out of the roughly 1,300 sound towns across the globe, San Luis Obispo took the spotlight with 0.8 percent of all Spotify users matching with SLO that’s almost 4.5 million people helping us go viral! Other towns like Burlington (0.6 percent), Berkeley (0.3 percent), and Cambridge (0.1 percent) were also very popular.
“I got to Berkeley, California. I check my Spotify Wrapped every year. It’s been like a holiday for me since 2019 when I first checked it out,” said junior Francesca Osgood.
Spotify seems to be doing its job by connecting people worldwide with their music tastes. SLO has had a huge increase in searches and posts about it.
Students love seeing SLO being recognized in pop culture, and maybe students could return the favor by looking into their ‘sound towns.’
